Hello…I am Rosie! Most of my clients refer to my cakes as Rosie Cakes! I guess the nickname is deserved as I strive to please my customers with the tool kit I have been given. Art and design have been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember. My career choice has allowed me to use cake as my medium to display that gift. I draw inspiration for my designs from nature, fashion, and your vision and input. I appreciate your willingness to entrust me with creative liberties on your next party or wedding event!
Chalkboard wedding decor is nothing new. We have seen many DIY projects for just about every occasion featuring this vintage style. You can design your own “Save the Date” cards and make customized wedding signage. There seem to be no limits to how the chalkboard trend can be incorporate into any wedding.
So why not consider the chalkboard wedding cake! This concept is a great alternative to the traditional white wedding cake. It can also add a whimsical vibe to a formal wedding event.
The vintage glamor of chalkboard cakes can be done to any degree. You may choose a simple name plaque or monogram to be incorporated on only one tier of your cake and decorate the remaining tiers with soft trending color tones. If black and white is too bold for your personal liking, slate grey can be a nice alternative.
As you consider your personal wedding cake style, think outside the box and be inspired with the unique presentation of the chalkboard wedding cake.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is to hear how much you and your guests enjoyed your special celebration with a Rosie Cake! A thank you note, phone call or email, is certain to brighten any day! Better yet, is a short video of the party. Treasured memories in living color are always lasting ones.
Here is a video that was sent to me, featuring a Birthday Party for a set of triplets. This family has gotten MANY cakes from me over the years, starting with the couple’s wedding cake! As the family has grown, so has the need for more cakes.
I hope you take the opportunity to share your treasured memories with us as you celebrate your next special event with a Rosie Cake!
Although wedding cakes are the main focus of our work, we do spend a substantial amount of time making partycakes for all occasions. About 40% of our sales come from party cakes. We receive requests for cakes from the traditional Birthday’s, Anniversaries, and Showers to Quinceaneras, Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s, and Gender Reveal parties. We pride ourselves in providing you with a quality custom designed cake for almost any occasion. If you have a party we want to provide a cake to celebrate the milestones of your life!
Planning ahead allows us adequate time to prepare for your design requests. I prefer at have at least 2 weeks notice on all orders. Please realize that there are limits to our schedule depending on the given day or week. Getting into the schedule early will be in your best interest. One way to reach out to me, to place a party cake order, would be to inquire through the contact page on the web site. You are also welcome to call Rosie’s Creative Cakes @ 717-898-9156. There may be times when a phone conversation can be a lot more efficient and informative.
First and foremost, we will need to know the date of your event. If the schedule allows, we will want to know how many servings of cake will be needed. This will have an impact on the cake format (sheet, layer, or tiered). The design concept, color scheme, and paper products will also help to inspire a design suitable for your party. We may even suggest that you send us a picture of a cake design concept you like in order to give us a sense of your vision. Please note that we will not copy someone else’s work. We use these images to inspire our own creative design, embodied with our decorating style and skill set.
A deposit is required to secure a spot in the schedule for your order. $50.00 is the typical for a layer or sheet cake and $100.00 is needed for a tiered cake. Your order will not be recognized until your deposit is received. We accept cash, check or credit card payments. Bare in mind that there is a $3.00 processing fee on ALL credit card transactions. If you choose to mail a check, please note the DATE you are scheduled to pick up your order on the MEMO line of your check. You will receive a confirmation call or email when your payment is received. Since we operate by appointment only, call before stopping by in person with your deposit to make sure someone is available to assist you.
If you should need to cancel your order, please note that your deposit will be forfeited, and is not transferable. If your event is rescheduled due to severe weather conditions, we will put our best foot forward to accommodate your requests. The balance of your order is due when you pick up the cake.
We expect our customers to pick up their party cakes at 2385 Junction Road. A timeframe for pick up is arranged, when the order was placed. If you are unable to arrive within the appointed time, a phone call is appreciated. When requesting a 3 tiered cake to serve 75 or more, you may want to pay for our delivery service. We do have limits on delivery distance, depending upon the time of year. When you pick up your cake, please handle it with care. We invested a significant amount of time, making your cake look great. It only takes a second to destroy or blemish the finished product. Keep in mind, your trunk is made for spare tires, baby strollers and sports equipment, NOT cake! You will want to keep the cake box as level as possible. Place it close to the wheel base or the front passenger side of your automobile. Seating in your vehicle is not level. Having a car blanket, book, or sweatshirt along can assist you in making the seat a suitable place for your precious commodity.
Cakes should be kept refrigerated (especially those with fillings) till the start time of your party. They typically have the best flavor when consumed at room temperature. Most of our cakes will freeze very well if you are lucky enough to have a considerable amount of cake leftover. Simply cut the cake into suitable portions for your family, wrap them in several layers of Saran Wrap, and place in an airtight container before putting them into your freezer. When thawing, unwrap the frozen cake and keep covered in your refrigerator. The slower you bring the cake to room temperature the less condensation you will have to contend with.
We take great pride in customizing your party cakes. Striving to provide you with a quality cake and a creatively crafted design is our desire. If you value these attributes of our work, we look forward to serving you. Contact Rosie to place your order today!
For many newly engaged couples a new year brings with it the anticipation of planning a wedding. The wedding cake consultation is one part of the planning process that usually evokes a smile and an eager appetite. From choosing cake flavors and fillings, to designing a tiered cake that embodies your wedding style, the cake consultation should prove to be a satisfying experience. I hope to give you some insight into the process, as we strive to make your planning a joy! Knowing what to expect and coming to the appointment prepared, will make our time spent together most effective.
I allot one hour for a complimentary consultation. There is limited space in my meeting room so I recommend that just the bride and groom OR persons with significant input be a part of this process. The more guests you bring with you the harder it will be to make effective decisions. At your consolation, you will have the opportunity to sample some crowd friendly cake flavors and fillings in order to get a taste of our cake menu. I suggest scheduling your cake consultation 9-12 months in advance, especially if your wedding will take place over peak wedding season. Spring and Fall tend to be prime times for such events.
Establish a realistic price range for your cake. Wedding cakes are typically priced by the slice. Tiered cakes will vary in cost, depending upon the complexity of the design, the mediums used to achieve that concept , and the cake flavors and fillings you desire to have for your guests. Kitchen cakes are one way to lower your cost per serving. Knowing what will effect your price range allows you to prioritize your choices effectively. The more cake flavors and fillings, the more cost. Intricate cake design concepts will also increase the price tag. Delicate hand made sugar flowers, will cost more than fresh flowers. Fondant is more expensive than buttercream. Although these upgrades can raise the price point, bare in mind the overall presentation. Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception! Make it a treat for the eyes and the mouth.
During your cake consultation we will determine how many tiers you want and what size your displayed cake will be in order to reflect the style of your choice. I recommend that you bring with you anything that will be beneficial in giving me a true picture of your wedding cake vision. A list of your vendors and their contact information is also helpful. Things that inspire me include:
~Color schemes with dress swatches and table linens
~Bridal Dress styles and fabric textures
~Florals chosen for the bouquets and reception decor
You will peruse photos of my past work, but I also encourage you to bring 2- 3 pictures of cakes that capture design concepts of your liking. Having a keen sense of your wedding style is essential to designing a cake that will reflect the atmosphere and personal character of your event.
At the conclusion of our meeting, I will provide you with a proposal for the custom designed cake you have chosen. A $100.00 deposit is needed to secure a spot in my schedule of events. I appreciate a follow up call or email of your intentions, if you are not prepared to leave a deposit at the time of your consultation.
Planning for a stress free wedding means that you have put the time and energy into choosing people you trust, to capture your vision, and make it a reality. It is my desire to help you choose a cake that embodies your style and leaves your guests with a mouth full of deliciousness. I look forward to guiding you through the process and being a part of your vendor team!
Whether you are planning an intimate gathering with family and friends or an all-out bash, your child’s first birthday is bound to be an extraordinary celebration.
The first birthday party is really a celebration for the parents and their guests. Your little one probably won’t remember the event. In fact, He/She may even be a bit overwhelmed by all of the attention. However, there is usually an ah-ha! moment when they will just dig in, and enjoy making a mess of their special Smash cake that you ordered just for them!
Smash cakes have become a trend in which brand new 1 year olds are given a cake to mutilate. The smash cake is typically decorated to coordinate with the larger display cake, which will be served to your party guests. Allow your child to indulge in their own tasty smash cake, with sweet creamy frosting, to celebrate their ONE and only 1st Birthday!
Gum Paste is a sugar dough that is primarily used to make flowers. The essential ingredient in gum paste makes it stretchy, pliable and somewhat elastic. Sort of like gum! Because of this quality, gum paste can be rolled very thin to achieve realistic looking flower petals and leaves. Various sculpting tools are used to add detail to each petal or leaf. In some cases, these components are wired to help make them structurally sound. After the petals dry, additional color can be added to achieve a life like appearance. If the flower has wired petals, assembly of them will take place once the petals can hold their form and are usually completely dry. Gum paste will get hard when dry and can break if it is not handled with care. Therefore extra pieces are made as a back up if something accidentally breaks. Flowers of this nature are priced separately, as the cost will vary greatly dependent upon the flower configuration, as well as the size and number of cut outs needed. Although very time consuming, these flowers are beautiful and almost as lovely as the real thing! To see how you can incorporate gum paste flowers into your next cake design, contact Rosie at 717-898-9156 or through the Contact Page of our website.
Naked cakes have become all the rage! Our take on the concept has a more refined look that we refer to as the Sheer Naked Cake. The sheer presentation showcases natural appeal. The use of fresh fruit or lush flowers, entrenched with unique vines and foliages lends itself to the organic and rustic look of todays weddings. As more and more brides opt to forgo the traditionally frosted tiers, allow yourself to Go Bare! Consider a pared down confection with our Sheer Naked Cake concept for your next event. Contact Rosie at 717-898-9156 or though the Contact Page of our web site. Special thanks to Photographers Tisha Landrum and Brittney Kreider for some of these images.
As cake trends move towards rustic designs, textured buttercream cakes have found their place in the spotlight. Although some textured concepts look effortless, there is a strategy behind it all. Most of these designs start with a smooth even layer of buttercream frosting, before the natural looking swirls and strokes are applied to the cake. Buttercream rosette swirls and ribbon frills are another way to add texture with dimension. For more information on how to incorporate these textured buttercream cake designs into your next upcoming event, contact Rosie at 717-898-9156 OR through the Contact Page of our website.
This elegant wedding cake showcases a rich earthiness with Pantone’s Color Of The Year for 2015….Marsala! The natural florals in their red wine color hues are highlighted by the simplistic elegance of the dotted swiss pearls. Special thanks to Sandy Porterfield for suppling the fresh flowers and berries for this cake. For more information on how to incorporate your colors and style into a wedding cake design, contact Rosie at 717-898-9156 OR through the Contact Page of our website.
We refer to Thursday’s as “Assembly Day” for wedding cakes. This is the day cake tiers are leveled and filled with an assortment of delicious flavors. Today we assembled between 15 and 20 tiers with fillings such as: strawberry cream, lemon curd, black raspberry chambord, white chocolate mousse, peanut butter, and chocolate ganache. The cakes are then crumb coated with buttercream frosting and placed into refrigeration.Tomorrow begins the next step of the assembly process; frosting and decorating.
Typically more time and energy goes into baking and assembling the cakes than the elegant decorations that adorn the frosted tiers. We take great pride in making delicious cakes that people are eager to sink their teeth into.
Working with people from ALL walks of life I encounter a lot of confusion regarding cake terminology, and rightfully so. Each Cakery seems to have their own method, format, and assembly of cakes. I hope to help you understand the difference between our SHEET, LAYER and TIERED CAKES, as well as, how they are most beneficial to your event or celebration.
SHEET CAKES are comprised of a 2” high cake, baked in a rectangular pan. They can be decorated for your special event OR scored. We refer to SHEETS by their DIMENSIONS, since they are NOT standard quarter, half and full sheet sizes. There are 3 size options to choose from, posted on our cake menu. Sheet cakes are not typically filled, BUT we do offer a filling as an upgrade. Costs will vary depending on the size of the sheet cake. Adding a FILLING requires cutting the cake horizontally and creating room for a flavored crème, preserve or frosting to be incorporated. SCORING the cake simply means the cake is pre-marked into servings, with a small decoration on each piece. SCORED CAKES are often used for larger parties where the DECORATED CAKE will not provide all the servings needed for the event. Ease of cutting and serving sheet cakes makes them appealing for those events where guests will be serving themselves.
LAYER CAKES are comprised of 2 layers of cake with a flavored filling OR buttercream frosting (sandwiched) between them. These cakes are referred to by their diameter. A typical layer cake is 4 1/2” high. We offer various shapes and sizes, which are posted on our cake menu. LAYER CAKES tend to have more visual appeal than sheet cakes and allow for more design work on the sides. Small LAYER CAKES can be cut into wedges (like a pie) BUT our layer cakes are larger and we recommend cutting them into slabs measuring approximately 4 ½” H X 2” D X 1” W. Ask for a cutting guide when you pick up your order. These cakes are better cut and plated for your guests rather than self serve. LAYER CAKES have a formal presentation and are used for those special occasions that call for celebration!
TIERED CAKES consist of multiple layer cakes of different sizes stacked on top of each other like a traditional wedding cake. Tiered cakes must be handled with TLC and prefer to be transported on a LEVEL SURFACE. We allow pick up for small tier cakes BUT we recommend delivery service for anything over 45 servings. There is structural support placed in ALL tiered cakes with a dowel rod through ALL tiers and into the baseboard. We will help you get your tiered cake situated in your vehicle but after that, she is ALL yours. PLEASE drive cautiously!!
KITCHEN CAKES are layered sheet cakes that INCLUDE a flavored filling and are frosted, but NOT decorated (other than borders). These cakes are tailored specifically to weddings. KITCHEN CAKES are not displayed, but held in the prep area with your catering staff. The beauty of KITCHEN CAKES is their affordability & presentation. What guest would prefer a plain sheet cake to an elegant cake with yummy flavors bursting from between the cake layers?
